  • Caribbean Draw poker a real draw

So, today I am debating the merits of Caribbean Draw Poker. Now if you see this question and think - doesn’t she mean Caribbean Stud Poker, oh, child, did you think they’d stop at just one? Of course not. The Caribbean family of poker is good for casinos and they want to make sure you have every chance to play. Now, though I’ve never been convinced that the odds are the best for the player, I have to admit the games do offer some appealing aspects. One is the speed of play. Caribbean Draw Poker follows the same rules and hands that you’ll find in a regular draw poker game but instead of playing against a table filled with your fellow poker enthusiasts, you play against the dealer. This means there’s no real option for bluffing and the rules govern the betting and winning, so game moves along more quickly than a regular poker game.

Of course the second appealing aspect is that it’s played using poker rules, so players don’t have to learn a new game or memorize new winning hands (unless they’ve never played poker before. But even then, this can be a great introduction to poker.) At the Caribbean Draw Poker table each player places their ante bet and is dealt 5 cards. They then decided if they want to fold or bet. If they bet, they can discard and draw up to 2 new cards. Then all they have to do is hope they beat the dealer.

But wait, there’s more — or less. In order to win the hand, the dealer has to hold a qualifying hand, which is a pair of eights or better. If the dealer doesn’t qualify, the players gets their bet back but doesn’t actually win the hand. This is the little trick that keeps the odds for the game working in the casinos favor. Oh, if you don’t have a qualifying hand, they still get to take your money.

But there’s a third draw to the game — the progressive side bet. Just like Caribbean Stud Poker, players can place a side bet for a progressive jackpot that they’ll win if dealt a Royal Flush. The odds on getting the royal are pretty low, but the pay out can be high.

If you want to check out Caribbean Draw Poker, All Slots Casino has added it to their list of games just in time for the New Year. Enjoy!
